From looking at the pic it is a Yugo M59/66 with what looks like a 3x9 scope with eye relife. The cops in russia us that setup like are law enforcement would use a Rem 700 or a Savage 10FP.

I doubt its a Yugo, Why would they use a Yugo SKS with all the Russian SKS available in Russia for cheap!
Its probably a Russian SKS in a sporterized stock.

Most popular hunting weapon in Russia is or used to be an SKS with a tighter twist to use  150gr bullets.

The SKSs sold in Russia are overhauled by Molot.

I wonder how that scope is attached.  It doesn't look like the scope is attached to the top cover but rather on the side like the rail on an AK.

Does anyone know anything about that kind of mount?

They look like a couple of average Joe's doing some informal plinking, rather than snipers. Are they that low budget over there in that city? Or are they just under cover?hinking.gif

from what I read and hear, a sizeable number of civillians got their guns and were involved in the shootout and aftermath...

+1  I heard several news reports to this effect.
