I am converting an Intrac MK II back into an AIMS-74 clone and had a few questions :

I was wondering, first of all, why the gas piston is the same size an an AKM piston, instead of the shorter piston as used on 74's.
Is the MK II Piston US Made and should I just leave it alone ? I was worried about not enough US parts since I'll be using all Romy furniture now.

Is the G2 single hook any better than the Century FCG ?

Thanks,
HOPSTER

It was most likely done as a cost-saving feature years ago when the Romanians were developing their AK74.
The rivet pattern is the same and the AKM, as is the gas block.
