I see a lot of them with the lower handguard with a vertical grip.  I look at mine (no vertical grip) and then look at an AKM lower handguard (with the swells on the sides), and noticed that the profile on the bottom of both don't match.  It looks like on the WASR someone cut and removed the grip, and then shaped it to resemble the AKM handguard.

Is this situation the case?  I can post pictures tonight, if necessary.

not all lower handguards had the swells on them, i know that much. but i doubt they wouldve chopped off the foregrip on a WASR, i dont think they ever had those.
