Is the buttstock on a WASR-10 a US compliance part? Some of the WASRs Ive seen come with the us made folding stock, is that because it has to have a US stock? If I get a WASR I will want to put on a wire folder.

Thanks

I believe the WASR10 is teh same as the SAR1

Q. What/How many US parts are in a SAR?
A. There are five, Gas Piston, Pistol Grip, Hammer, Disconector, and Trigger.

The hi cap WASR-10 I examined had the US parts drobs listed.
The SAR series of rifles and the WASR GP have the same US parts as the hi cap WASR-10 but the WASR GP also has a US slant brake.

My WASR-10 came with the Romanian wire folder on it. From the look of it. it was imported with a weld that fixed it in place, then Century ground the weld off so it folds again. Anyway, it's most certainly Romanian, so I'm sure you're OK to add one.

From Century International Arms 3/11/05:
WASR: This is listed as our item RI1072D-N. The parts to check for will be the hammer, trigger, sear/disconnector and piston. Yours was sold with the dragunov type stock so I do not include the pistol grip in this list.  Some were also released with US magazine parts (follower-floorplate; these mags should have a large sticker on the side to distinguish them).  The metal parts will be marked by a small "C". The US piston does not have a blued head like the original and is secured by a weld on one side rather than the pin used for the original.

This is the list I have for mine.
NO MORE THAN 10 OF THE LISTED PARTS CAN BE FOREIGN MADE.
(1) Receivers
(2) Barrels
(3) Trunion
(4) Muzzle attachments - added US
(5) Bolts
(6) Bolt carriers
(7) Gas pistons - US
(8) Triggers - US
(9) Hammers - US
(10) Disconnectors - US
(11) Buttstocks
(12) Pistol grips
(13) Forearm handguards
(14) Magazine body
(15) Followers
(16) Floorplates

Highlighted parts are US made.  This AK rifle has 10 Foreign Parts.
