If memory serves me right the slant should be up and to the left a little.

If there's a semi-circular notch in the back rim of your slant brake, it should be at 12 Noon so that the spring-loaded pin in the FSB (if it were there) would engage the notch.

THe reason the slant style break is aimed slightly to the RIGHT of the barrel is to keep the muzzle blast & fire directed away from your face when your shooting your AK (especially full-auto).
