Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - I re-finished my SAR1 stocks *pics*

I picked up a SAR1 with laminate stocks.
I liked the pattern, but not the color, so I re-did them with a cherry stain.

Yes do let us know, I would like to do my SKS. Looks great by the way. I'm working on getting an SAR-1 myself.

I basiclly followed the directions from linx310.nothingbutguns.com/furn_refinish.htm

But instead of useing Chestnut Ridge military rifle stain (because they dont have it at Home Depot) I used Minwax Sedona Red 222

Because of the colors in the laminate, the red of the stain gave it a very nice look.

I sprayed it with satin polyurethane.

I used 0000 steel wool between coats of the polyurethane, but didnt use the steel wool after.
