I stripped the wood on my sar-2 and found that the wood of the upper handguard didn't seem to match the rest of the wood. I am planning on a very light color on the wood closer to that of the AK-74. This difference in wood would show through so I was wondering if anyone has put a black upper handguard on and how it looked. I am going to add a black pistol grip because the orange thing on there now looks like crap. Where is a good and inexpensive place to buy these parts. I would prefer U.S. parts so I can possibly add the AK-74 brake in the future. Any info would be appreciated.

You could always do the Ultimak scope mount to replace the upper handguard if you wanted a little more utility from a US part.
