The "Romy G" seems to be the most ubiquitous Romanian AKM next to the WASR around here.

But what doe the "G" stand for and how is it different from the other models?

(I checked the Romanian AK website already).

The "G" stands for "Garda", or Romanian for "Guard". That, in turn, stands for the Patriotic Guard of Romania, which was a national militia of sorts... paramilitary infantry to be used as second-line troops in a war.

The G on the rear sight block. It means the rifle was probably never used for much of anything, was eventually demilled and ended up here as a parts kit where it was rebuilt as a semi-auto weapon. Regular Romanian AIMs that were military issue weapons don't have the G, and generally have about 10x more finish wear.
