Picked up one of my dream AKs in a trade this week.  Anyone know where to get the proper sling to go with it pictured at the bottom?

I just picked up a MAK90 in trade to complement my NHM91.

I used the little mountain and moon icon to insert the photo like on all the other forums I participate in to no avail.  When editing I see the [img] stuff before and after the URL including the slash.  Oh well.

I don’t know, but I want THAT rifle.

Here is a cut and paste from Chicom47.com:

GLNIC: Was a company incorporated in Los Angeles, California in May of 1986. They were reportedly an import company owned exclusively by the PLA. Guangdon Lingnan Ind. Corp GLNIC LA CA is "GLNIC Corporation of America", a company based in California, but owned by the People's Liberation Army of China. GLNIC may stand for "Guangdon Lingnan Ind. Corp." or "Guangdon Lingnan Import Company". The letters "CGA" may be stamped on the trunnion ahead of the serial number on early-import GLNIC AK47S rifles, and it appears that CGA was the exporter for pre-1989 GLNIC-imported AK47S and SKS rifles (later rifles were exported by Norinco).

NHM-91 with some magpul furniture....relax, I still have all factory parts, except for the handguard retainer that got cut off.

I started out with this:

A little sanding, with some red dye added to Amber Shellac, and a different grip later and this is what I ended up with:

This is also my milled MAK-90 that I put a lot of hours into roughly 10 years ago:

It was in rough shape when I picked it up, hence the reason I refinished it.  For the life of me, I don't know why they sanded off the Poly Tech stamp on the other side.

The stars have finally aligned. After letting an opportunity pass me by at the gun show last year, I sourced a Chinese MAK-90 through one of the local forums this evening. The rest, as they say, is history!

Me either....my favorite right now is a stock MAK 90...yes thumbhole and all.  Its so good that it required ZERO front sight adjustments from NIB to zero at 50yds....not many AK's will do that.

Pre ban PolyTech model AKS-762 standard wood stock with folding spike bayonet

Pre ban PolyTech model AKS-762 folding stock with red synthetic furniture

Somewhat rare version PolyTech 56-2 type model AKS47/2 rifle with a longer Galil type folding stock, optional factory vented handguard and factory option AK-74 type muzzle brake, '89 KFS import.

I'm posting my only 3 AK again because my Photobucket was messed up in page 8 of this same pic thread.

I also had a pre ban PolyTech down folding stock with wood furniture but a good friend bought it from me during the ban because he can't find any good quality AK that time.

I bought all these new back in early 1989 before the import ban in mid '89, they're still in pristine excellent condition with low round count only testing every year or two to verify they're in good working condition.

Don't see many Chicom AKs here in Astan.  This one is a Type 56 produced by factory 416.  Stock and PG has been replaced.  SN on receiver, op rod and recoil rod.  No muzzle nut or flash hinder on muzzle thread.  Cleaning rod was a locally produced rod.  Gun headspaces and function fired on semi and auto.

If only that rifle could talk. I'm just wondering, we are so anal about flushing out and cleaning right after shooting corrosive ammo, how are the internals and bore on that thing? It's obviously been through a dozen conflicts or two, I always wondered how the people using these would clean them to prevent the corrosive salts from destroying it.

Don't have it anymore but remember the barrel looked decent.  Not mirror finish but not a sewer hose either.
