I have been looking at Norinco 56 rifles. Were these available with the scope rail? Could one be installed by a smith? Ballpark figure on installation?

No 56s rifles I know of with factory scope rails, some of the Polytech NM rifles had a rail but they're not compatable with typical Commie scopes. Try Tantal's for a rail, either DIY or have a 'smith do it. Can't cost too much, just measurements and 2 holes. I'm sure someone else will chime in on cost, there are a variety of rails and optic mounts available.
