I wanted my first post to be a real contribution to this site. I received a call from a good friend of mine a few months ago about a gun collection he was purchasing. The original owner was now deceased and the daughter was selling the entire collection. The house was full of 80s and 90s guns, most of which were untouched time capsules. I helped my friend price many of the guns and for that I was able to cherry pick most of the collection. Well it took a few months to pay everything off but in return I received one of the nicest untouched Chicom AKS lots I've ever seen. I bought every AK item from the collection. Amazing to think that the three AKs the guy purchased back in the 80s would turn out to be three of the rarest Chinese AK variants. All three AKs have the original box, manual, contents, and receipt of purchase from the 80s. All the mags (including the drums) are still in their original plastic bags. The mags without the stickers are flat back Chinese marked on the bottom. The others are Polytechs with their stickers still on the bags. I'm going to post several photos of the entire lot. I hope you guys enjoy the grouping as much as I do. There are still two crates of Chinese 7.62x39 steel core ammo and one Russian 7.62x39 ammo crate that I need to pick up. Along with that is a beautiful DP marked Chinese SKS with a pre ban 20 round star mag. I haven't had time to go over and pick them up yet Attached File

thats really cool! I dont know much about the chinese AKs, but that looks like a sweet find. Its a bit of a shame no one in the family was interested in shooting, but its good youre giving a good home

Holy hell! What a find! Some of the best AKs ever made. From a collector standpoint, have them insured, put them over the fireplace mounted.
From a shooter standpoint, shoot em. |

God damn those look awesome. I really like the under folding spike bayonets and those folding stocks. Bluing looks solid. Great finds!! That 1911 box looks like an airsoft box from the outside, lol.

Along with the grouping is this NIB Norinco 1911. Yes, even the old Chinese flag (probably from the 70s) came from the same estate. I had to snag it. Makes a great backdrop for these. The guy even kept the original drum mag instructions and bill of sale from Keng's. Just unbelievable ! Attached File

Well, last picture for now. Hope you guys enjoy the grouping. Amazing to find such rare AKs in this kind of condition with original paperwork. Attached File

The bakelite side folder is even more rare than the Polytech side folder. This is a 66 marked Norinco. Very few were ever imported as compared to the bakelite side folder Polytech.

Super nice OP, I don't think I've seen those variants before.
Impressive! Congrats on giving them a new home and thanks for sharing the pics

We got a gif of the O face from Office Space?
Cuz that's all I got. |
Thanks guys much appreciated! It was not easy keeping all three together but my friend worked with me. I'm still amazed to see three super rare variants with all their contents and original bill of sales to the same guy. Something you don't find everyday.

Incredible trash can guns!! Thanks for sharing, OP. Good score.
The two early bakelite Norincos were imported by IACO Sac CA out of California. The Polytech was imported by Kengs Firearms out of Atlanta, Georgia. The fixed stock bakelite 56 is very early and only a few were ever imported.

Thanks guys for the positive comments! Did anyone notice how early the Polytech double folder is? It has a 1985 serial number which is one of the first years they were imported, but notice how low the serial number is. Does anyone out there know if the Chinese started at 1000 on these Polytech serial numbers?
Were those prices high for the late 80's? I expected them to be a little less....
I actually thought the Polytech would have been more than the Norincos.

Lots of nice stuff...NIB HK 91, Daewoo, and a great Valmet that I couldn't snag. Lots of other stuff too. The house was packed full!

And this my friends is why i shoot every firearm i own!
Nice find guy but what a shame that man died never really enjoying his collection. I cant imagine having them all those years and never shooting them. I own a few very nice very expensive no longer importable or replaceable anymore rifles and i shoot them regularly. Life is too short and i work too hard for my money not to enjoy them for what they are. Thanks for sharing the pics. Amazing find. |

mseagle, let it henceforth be known that I hate you.
Incredible. These are awesome! It reminds me of my teenage years in the 1980's, seeing these on the shelves of the local gun stores in Southern California. Congrats! |
Great pictures. I have that same 87 catalog. Kengs is still in business but no longer in Riverdale. I went to the estate sale of the former Kengs gunsmith.
You helped price the guns so you priced these cheap, right? I mean with the invoices, you offered to pay double that? LOL
