IF you are capable of making the cuts for the folder on your own then, no they are not worth the premium. They are the same reciever otherwise. I believe the Ewbanks reciever to be a quality unit at a good price, however I would not order it directly from JoeKen even if they were the only dealer in the world to have them. If you search around in the AK General Discussion forum a bit you will find plenty of information about that vendor, and some leads to other vendors that carry the reciever.

You would probably be best off getting the reciever with none of the trunnion holes drilled alreay, as most trunnions are somewhat unique. A reciever that comes with the holes already drilled will normally be pretty close, but will still probably need to be wittles on to make everything work, this is jsut the nature of the rifles design.
