If you are looking at an AMD63 the foreend shoud use regular stamped type parts including the gas piston, it is the AMD65 that has the short barrel.

So I can replace with any AK furniture made for a standard length stamped rifle?

Yep, unless you have some rare variation, and with Aks that is always a possibility.

Cool. I was trying to decide whether to get the AMD-63 or the Polish underfolder kit. I'm leaning towards the Hungarian now. I really want to build one with a folder but I hear the underfolder is not real stable in comparison to some aftermarket models out now.

Both are nice guns, as for the underfolder, some like them ,some don't. I like my Romanian side folders, but I have a cut reciever MAK90 that will be getting an underfolder because with the cut tail it would be a pain to put a regular stock on it whereas the underfolder install won't be that hard in comparison.

The problem with the AMD65 is that it uses a shorter gas tube and piston. YOu can take a normal handguard and shorten it, and the gastube, to fit the 65. There are a couple of good posts on this in the build it yourself forums. I have never done it, but it looks like it shouldn't be to difficult to do, and I do not believe that there are any direct replacements currently available. You might be able to find somebody with a SA85M that came with the same gastube and piston who have swapped out for something else.

Will any lower foregrip fit on an AMD65? I want to buy a Saiga sporter foregrip from Krebs but I'd hate to waste the money if it won't fit. Thanks in advance.

For the most part any AK lower hand guard will fit, I am not sure about the Saigas though, I believe that they are unique and would take some work, but I do recall seeing a picture of an AMD65 with the somplete Saiga front end, and it looked kind of cool.
