Can anyone think of why welding a Tromix weld-on Saiga stock adaptor to the rear of an AMD (once the stock mechanism is removed of course) would not work? May be a little shorter and cheaper than the Krebs adaptor, if you dont need their sight rail....

you can do anything w/ a welder. just do it in phases so you don't heat up the trunion and mess w/ the temper they put on them. here is what i did w/ my AMD.

Please show some better pics of your conversion, I would love to get rid of my wire stock in favor of something like yours.

How about a close up of the hinge mechanism and what you did to it?
Thinking of building an AMD65 and want something better than the atrocious brake tubing stock that is on one.

Did you weld right to the block that holds the stock tubing? Or did you go a different route?

I dont think disturbing the heat treatment on the rear trunnion should be an issue, there are really no moving parts that are interfacing with it during firing. The front trunnion yes you definitely dont want to heat at all as it would anneal it to whatever degree that it was heated to.

the recoil spring assembly relies on the rear trunion. i'll work on some close ups of the hinge for you guys, it's just a bit hecktic right now. it's not a show piece but works well for my intrest. it still uses the factory lock for open but has no lock for folded. i just cut 3 pieces of the tube folder and welded them on to create a hinge.
