Are the Arsenal SLR 105 A1 models getting hard to find?

they have been discontinued man, maybe for good. If you want one you need to act fast; soon it will be very difficult to find a new one, and the prices will skyrocket. Start checking out the Equipment Exchange. They are great rifles and a good investment if you can find one.

I'm looking into picking one up the second I find one. On another note, are other 5.45x39 Aks inferior? (such as the VEPR K)

5.45 is by no means inferior. Probably as effective as 7.62x39, but it achieves that effectiveness through slightly different ballistic means.

I just put an order in yesterday for one :)

edit: MCO119, are you sure that the SLR-105 A1s have been discontinued? Arsenal's website shows them as still in limited production, but the standard SLR-105s have been discontinued.

Purchased a NIB SLR-105A1R today at the Eastman show in Rome, GA. Paid $629.00 plus tax.
Walked around the show for an hour and a half with it over my shoulder while the dealer held my box, I was stopped and asked no less than a dozen times if it was for sale or what kind of AK it was. It caught a lot of attention. Glad I got there early as it was his last one. It was the only Arsenal in the entire show albeit a small one. The past week I had 2 dealers looking for one & neither could find one. See below

I left there a very happy man.

pretty sure, man. They are no longer being imported...the dude at Arsenal confirmed as much to me a few weeks back. They probably haven't updated the site.

No longer being imported? Then I am glad that I purchased mine last summer. Since then, I've put a mond blowing 40 rounds through it. Finding 5.45 ammo was harder than finding the gun.

Hey DaffyDuck, Did ya get that one from Frank`s Gun Shop? He`s  the only one I know at the Eastman shows here in Ga that carried the SLR. I got mine from him about a year ago. Nice aren`t they? Glad I got mine when I did. He had 2 and I had to resist the urge to get`em both. Hope you enjoy yours like I do mine. J R...

I just bought a SLR105A1R at a dealer in DE for $629.  He's got 2 more if anyone is interested.  Nice rifle.  I just wish I could find ammo.  Post#74,  Ha Ha, I guess that is fitting for an AK74 purchase.
