I have a new SLR-105 and purchased a replacement front sight block from K-VAR. Neither the SLR nor the replacement sight can be adjusted for elevation. The post appears to be either painted in or cross threaded. Has any one experienced this with either item? I am currently soaking the replacement sight (AK-17B) in BreakFree CLP overnight in the hopes it will become unstuck. I purchased a sight adjustment tool from CDNN but all that happened when I tried to break the sight post free was the tool socket arms bent. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

While CLP is great stuff and I use it on all my firearms it is not a penatrating oil.
But all SLR rifles are painted black and you will need to put some heat on the front sight post and drum to loosen the grip of the paint. Then use some needle nose pliers to turn the front sight post. Once it moves then you will be able to use the front sight adjustment tool. Don't worry about ruining the paint as you can touch it up with a 99 cent can of Wal-mart semi gloss black.
