Doh!

I am new to AK's and just recently got a Romanian WASR-10.  The thing is a breeze to work on, but this little piece dropped to the table in the process of taking it apart.  It is very tiny and no wider than your finger.  I have no clue what it is or where it goes.  At first I just thought it was a piece of trash left over from the machine work, but now I don't.  It is formed  and has flats on either side.

Anybody got a clue as to what this thing is?

I think it might have come from the gas block area.

Nor have I ever seen anything like it on either of my 2 Romys.  Go to KVars website and look through all the parts they offer, but I will doubt you find a match.

Stick it in a drawer as an oddity.

never seen it

could it be a small leaf spring to retain the cleaning rod in the handguard or something?
