....what type of ak is it? Are the internals American made? Need a bit more info here please. Shouldn't be any problem to resolve though.

stoning the hammer cocking surface and underside/cocking surface of the carrier may alleviate your problems. smoothing things up a bit and greasing those surfaces will allow your ak to run more smoothly.
also, check the alignment of your gas piston with the gas tube remove. sometimes the drag is actually caused by the piston, and the hammer hangupo point is the result of that friction (it is normal for the hammer to slow the carrier down, as the cocking surface must overdrive the hammer travel in order to cock the rifle). |

the rifle is a pre ban norinco, I was looking lastnight. the leading edje of the bolt carrier is hiting the top part of the hammer about an eigth of an inch down, and stoping but cold..
I tried polishing the hammer, and carrier, then removing a little material from them but the carrier is stoping on the flat top part of the hammer. I may just replace the fire control parts. It looks like the double hook is a little worn and not holding the hammer down far enough. I bought this rifle for 600$ about 85% finish, with the bayo, 3mags and a 75 round chinese drum. the guy was asking 900 but the bolt haning up got it down to 600. I figured it would'nt ba hard to fix. |

...this is what I was getting at. I wouldn't remove any more metal than a polishing would provide. I would replace the FCG from a borrowed unit first. Then if that works use the Red Star group. |
