I clean EVERY weapon I own after firing. I've tried to not do it but I can't! It eats at me.

I'm a little anal-retentive about cleaning my firearms. Well, actually A LOT! Sorry.

BTW, if you ever see a gun for sale by me in the EE rest assured it's been WELL taken care of.

Sure...I clean mine....Hmmmmm.....Well...About once a year.....

Clean mine thoroughly, almost anally.  Usually within a few days after shooting it.

I have let it go a week or two before but that's it.  I've always used non corrosive ammo though.

Can't remember the last time I cleaned any of my AK's.

I clean all of mine pretty well.  A clean weapon will always function better than a dirty one...even with an AK.  That and I have four Arsenals...a SLR-105, SLR-106, SAS-7, and SAM-7 SF.  That's alot of money tied up in four AK's.  If I had a WASR I wouldn't mind never cleaning it but with that much money I need to protect my investment....

Are you my twin? I'm talking q-tips and toothpicks here. It's a disease.

Heh. Q-tips and bits of rag on toothpicks. Usually the same day I return from the range. It's an addiction.

Yeah, once in a long while, mainly I keep the outside in shape so the sucker don't rust because it is blued.

Everytime I shoot, soon as I get home. I like to take care of things I spend hard earned cash on

Nope but I do clean my AR's.  Guess which ones I shoot more?

I clean every weapon each time it is used period.

They are supposed to be cleaned?

My AR's get completely stripped and cleaned after range trips.

How many of you non cleaners are prior service or raised around firearms? Just curious, not being a ass, just curious.

To each his own, but you guys should really take care of your toys. At least clean the bolt up and run a bore snake down the barrel.

I field strip it at the range, run a patch thru the bore, wipe down the bolt with CLP, wipe whatever I can, squirt some CLP on the rails, reassemble and fire away.  Gun goes home dirty, but I'm not shooting corrisive ammo

4 years active Army.  My M4 was always clean.  Most of my personal weapons are clean except 2 AK's.  The other 2 AK's are clean if that helps.

Yep. I always clean my AK after I go to the range because I believe in taking care of my stuff that I spent hard earned money on.

[#19]
Take care of your stuff (whatever it is), and it will take care of you.  Anything worth having is worth taking care of.

And AKs need cleaning too... just hit it with a pressure washer at the carwash, air dry it by throwing it in the back of the truck on the way home, and spray it down with WD-40 when you get there.

Who am I kidding... I've cleaned my AK already and I haven't even made it to the range yet.

strip down and cleaned after every outing...whether its 50 rounds or 1000......ALWAYS clean my stuff and oiled   then back in the safe they go

I tend to clean my firearms as a matter of habit.  I admit that sometimes I let the AK go without a cleaning for longer than the other guns, but I always get around to it sooner or later.

as you can probably tell i have a wasr-10... when i first got it i cleaned it right after a range trip, but now i clean it only if im reallly bored.

now if i had an arsenal or an AK of value, i would clean it as often and as thorough as my AR and pistols

i usually clean my AK at night after i've been out shooting that day. it gives me something to do and i actually kinda enjoy it. plus i'm anal about it. the longest i've gone without cleaning my AK was like 2 days after it was fired.

I've had my ak 4 days and I've cleaned it 3 times. 2 times before I shot. 1 Time after. I clean all my guns as soon as I get home from the range.

Don't clean that often wish I did though. Biggest problem is I hit the range 1-4 times a week and at a miniumn will shoot 2 hanguns and two rifles.

If it's a weekend more guns than normal are taken. Even the .50 bmg rifle don't get cleaned that often (should but don't).

Yes I was active duty and no I dont clean my Kalashnikovs like I would clean my AR system rifles.. Dirty AK means a happy AK ...

DITTO! I cannot stand a dirty weapon. The Marine Corps taught me that idealogy almost 30 years ago. It is hard to stop a good habit.

Yeah I do the same thing, especially with my ARs.

Why do you think Mr. Kalashnikov put a Cleaning Kit inside the stock, and put a

Cleaning Rod under the barrel ?????
Link Posted: 4/19/2007 6:52:11 PM EDT
[#33]
Hell yeah I clean it, and every other gun I own, every year if it hasn't been fired, and after every firing session.

i cleaned it after the first 3000 rounds it developed trigger slap and the cleaning made it go away.

now almost another 3000 rounds later the secondary sear (or whatever its proper name is) was holding the hammer when i pulled the trigger, so i had to take apart the trigger group and while everything was gutted i cleaned the inside of the receiver. i think there was a good pound of red sealant in the rear of the receiver.

those are the two times i've cleaned my AK.

I clean it everytime I shoot it.
