I'm getting a new SLR95 next week and I'm wondering if I can remove the muzzle brake and replace it with a birdcage flash suppressor?  If so can anybody reccomend a decent FS?

It can and has been done , but it's not a simple task.
The brake is pinned , and I believe also silver soldered on.
The barrel section underneath it is not suitable in size for standard AK threading,

You could install a new front sight base which is threaded for a muzzle device.

Actually , unless you really HATE the look of the brake -
it does a good job of flash suppression as is
(apparently the BATF never actually TESTED it ), and also reduces recoil.
