I see alot of rail setups for AK's that cover the gas tube, or simply replace it with one with a rail built right in.

Being an AR guy, and the kind of guy that likes to clean, I have to ask, do you guys even bother cleaning the inside of the gas tube?  I find it much easier to clean by removing it, but this as we all know would change the POA.

Do you just clean the piston itself and forget about the inside of the tube, or do you still clean it?

Dude, it's an AK.....

I clean everything top-to-bottom when I find myself bored. So, yes, I clean the piston as well remove the tube for a nice scrub.

Best setup to scope or red dot an AK is a side rail. That said, I clean my AK every two or three range trips and yes I do take out the gas tube out... You will remove black junk forever. heh

Gas tube rails aren't solid enough to maintain zero, even if you don't ever remove it.

What about the Ultimak for a gas tube picatinny rail mount.  It looks as if this thing clamps around the barrel.
