I'm new to AK, and was thinking of getting a Saiga. Do saiga 7.62x39's take AK mags.? If not, how hard are mags to get? Are there hi cap. mags. for the .308 version? Thanks in advance

I looked into this too not long ago. AK mags won't work without a relatively easy modification:

There are Saiga hi-cap mags around, but they're expensive. I saw one at a recent gun show for $59.

Saiga 7.62x39 have factory Izhmash saiga mags in 5rd, 10rd, and 30rd.

Tantal/Doug Ford has packs of 5rd mags for sale.

10rds are everywhere on forums.

As for Izhmash Saiga 30rd mags.

trapperindustries is offering them at roughly 30.00US after conversion from euro.

Oleg@Rusmilitary gets em off and on. I bought his last in OCT, 2005. He hasn't had em since, and told me straight up...not likely.

I have 20 myself of the rare 30's. I may ditch 2 of em if money keeps tight.
