Here's a brand new WASR from C & S Metall-Werkes that has been "antiqued".

They have always had some cool products and are pretty good guys to work with but $500 is a lot of $ for a WASR.

At least it looks better than a NIB WASR. I think a naturally worn weapon has more character, though.

What did they do...attack it with an SOS pad? Sandpaper?

Will the "battlefield pick up" look be the new fad on AR15.com/AK47.net?

Just kidding, I like it.

Sandpaper gave mine a nice worn in look.

Scotchbrite cleaning pads, use the green ones...  As for the "WHY", same reason some have wood stocks vs polymer, vertical foregrips, folding stocks etc.  Because "I" like it...

It's the same reason that people like the used jean or stone washed jean look.

You're welcome!  I think the next thing I need to do is change out my pistol grip to a color that matches the wood a little better...

Yep, and maybe age the wood to give it that somewhat sun-bleached look? What would be a good method for that?

(((Off to buy another AK and SKS!)))

I may take the wood stock and leave it out in the weather and summer sun for a month or two!

WASR= What A Sorry Rifle
SAR= Sorry Ass Rifle

It's like dressing up a turd, it's still a turd.

If I had a WASR, that's what I'd do to it, too!  Definitely looks like a "war trophy."

Several nice examples guys!

I've seen good results with 0000 steel wool rubs for the metal.

But what did you do to get that nice tone on the wood???

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All I did for the wood was sand it down and stain it with a red mahagony color.  Then I went over it with steel wool and gave it a couple coats of tung oil.

Reminds of those kids in school that would put holes and stuff in their jeans just to look cool!

The war bring back look is cool plus you tend to not give a shit about it as much.
