I spoke with a gunsmith that offered flat black powder coating as an alterative to parkerizing. He compared the finish he did to that of the Russian Saigas, since I don’t have one and have handled one only a few times how does this compare in appearance/texture to parkerizing or say guncoat or poly paint over park. How does this compare to the original finish of most AKs?

The shit melts at 500 degrees. Barrel will reach 800 to 900 degrees on  a bad day. On a reciever it will be great.

I have seen guns in the EE that were powder coated, and the Saigas are...is it some high temp coating?
