I just picked up one for my safe and was wondering if anyone had any opinions on dry rod, to keep the moisture out of the safe.

Are you talking about the electric rods that are used in safes or something else?

I use 2 of the electric ones in my vault and they keep the temp consant.  What you might watch out for is the dryness factor.  Having a vault that's dry is good but like anything else being "TO" dry isn't a good thing.  Wood can dryout and crack so I have a remote sensor  temp/humidity monitor that I watch.  If the vault gets "TO" dry I add a little cup of water to add a little moisture to the environment.

I will admit that I haven't had to add the water except for a few weeks during the winter.  Just something to keep an eye on.

...been using one for several years. No rust implies that its working.

do you need to leave it on 24/7 ? where is the best place to mount it, at the bottom or top? will i need anything else other than the dry rod in order to keep moisture out?
