The M16 rifles are more light, more accurate and more beautiful.
Because we like all rifles that liberals say we can't own. The AK also will keep shooting no matter what abuse it receives.
Chinese should spend less time trying to be american, And keep some of their own beautiful culture..........
But hurry up , and ditch the communism................ love the food. |

Tiengulden, if your profile is true, hope you enjoy this glimpse into America.
I have taken some of my Chinese customers shooting when they come to visit. Most seem to be fascinated by the AR. I love my AR, but I'm really crazy about my AKs becaue they're interesting. My other reasons are pretty much the same as those voiced here, backed up with "because we can". |
the M16 rifles need to be wipe and maintain often ? |
Yes and no. It requires some PM, but it is just as durable as the AK. They are suited to different armies. The AR is suited to western style professional armies. The AK is more suited to conscript armies (forced draft) Both are excellent rifles. |

There must be a hole in the filter somewhere...how is this guy accessing the site? I can't believe the government would want their citizens seeing how free this country is...
You can access all sorts of things on the internet from China. It's not like Chinese citizens aren't allowed to leave their country and visit the US. They do it all the time. I've worked with folks from Shanghai and Beijing that would go back and forth from the US to China. China ain't North Korea or cold war era Romania. |
The political and porn websites that from the US are all shield. |
The M16 rifles are more light If you are not a woosie this is not a problem. more accurate My Vepr does just as good if they both have the same quality of ammo as my AR and more beutiful I will take the Galil look any day Oh I see you did not say M-16s are more reliable. Because AKs are more reliable in general |
I love my old AR15, (looks like a M16A1) , but variety is the spice of life. The AK47, AKM, AK-74 were all unavailable in this country, until about 20 years ago, some varieties just coming in the last few years. Rarity = Desirability. No longer rare, they are reliable, rugged and simply fun to shoot, work on, and collect. Its great that a citizen of China can view this website and discuss firearms. |

How do you define "reliable" ? I think "1,000 rounds consecutively = reliable" |
To an extent I think there is a division between pure AK folks and pure AR folks at the end of the day they can sit around and have a friendly conversation, then there is everyone in between (myself included) that have come to understand that no one weapon can fit every need . Being versitle is key.
LOL his goal was to fire off 1,000 rounds consecutively. He DIDNT do it! oh but the FTF was the magazines fault?? awesome!! |
That is funny considering the amount of politics that are part of gun ownership here. Enjoy the site, I hope you can learn a few things, and as far as the AK vs AR debate, it will NEVER end. In the end, it is best to have both. |

It's a free country, get whatever you like. As long as we're devoted to our country, it doesn't matter what weapon we like.
Being able to use an AK47 against countries that typically use them against us is an advantage. Don't let blind pride stop you from using something that works. |
AKs and ARs each come in many calibers, so one is not more powerful than the other. You can get AK accuracy darned close to an AR's accuracy, and some of us prefer it's Tractor Charm.
It's like golf, so I am going into battle with a caddy and bag of several guns for all occasions |
Some of us like Ak's because they LOOK like a weapon, instead of an expensive toy. I like the rugged, threatening look of the Ak-47, versus the high-tech, fragile ambience of the AR-15.
tiengulden,
Welcome to the site. First: AK's are frequently more accurate than many people think they are. This is especially true when the AK is chambered in 5.56 Nato or 5.45x39. Second: AR's are not always as accurate as people think they are. At least, not with military ammo. Old_Painless posted a thread showing examples of this some time back. Now it's in the archives. Third: With modern plastic furniture, the AK isn't as heavy as it once was. |
+1 In true AR15 fashion: GET BOTH |
Both are very good rifles. The AR is more accurate than an AK ( Generally ) . And the AK is no dout the most reliable rifle to get your hands on. The AR isn't bad though. Strenghts and weakness.. Apples and Oranges. WarDawg
It's called Freegate. |
AKs are also cheaper than AR-15s, well at least at the moment. You can get a pretty good AK for about half as much as the same quality AR-15 would cost.
We like them because they're simple, dirt cheap and go bang every time. And yes, we do like to get both Why do you like the AK ?
Damn no porn on the internet that's just wrong. Welcome aboard. |
I dislike the AR15 because of the gas system and the damn buffer tube. And yes I have owned ARs.
If I could get an AR with a gas piston, and be done with permemant buffer tube without paying 800$ I would get one. |
Fourth, with all the heavy barrel nonsense, and the plethora of bolt on crap out there, the AR is not as light as it once was. |
The AK is like a good woman, the hotter you get it, the more pleasure it gives you.
For every round I put through my AR, I run 100 rounds through my AK, it's that fun to shoot. |
May I please use that in my sig line? |
I thought the reason recon used AK's in 'Nam was it confused the crap out of the enemy to be shot at with their own rifles. That "distinctive sound" and all.
bachelor- YOu dont like grass too much huh??? atleast saturday mornings for you can be for shooting while I get stuck cutting my grass! LOL
We like all guns. We try to own them all.
We will not let a Tiannenmen Square type massacre happen here. Have you heard of that? That is part of why we have so many guns. AKs and M16 types both, and many more. CJ |
Sure. |
It depends on how young they are, if they know the full story about Tiananmen...
But if you have any idea, then you understand part of the reason we enjoy owning a variety of weapons. It must be said however, that a large portion of the populace has no such concerns about the proper role of government. We call them people + sheep = "sheeple". |
That's one of the coolest pictures that I've seen posted on AR15.com. I can't add much to the discussion that hasn't been said already, but here in the USA, a lot of gun owners will buy both. They're both fine rifles. I like my AR's and AK's equally. I'm a big fan of AK's chambered in the 5.45X39 caliber. -Scott |
You know nothing! |
I've got plenty of grass, actually. Off to the left is a whole big patch of it. About 20'x50'. I live in Arizona, so grass is not of great interest. Water conservation is highly recommended, therefore we landscape with rock, brick, hearty plants, etc. |
