All you need is a UF stock and UF rear trunnion. It can de done, easily.

Is there a smith that can do it? I just got a romy built, I have not painted the receiver yet. I had a bad experience trying to install an underfolder when I was younger. I ruined a pre-ban norinco thinking i could just drill a hole, trim the trunnion, and be in business. i was wrong, my skills were not that good then. i want a pro to do this one.

We do that. We are a little busy right now building up Polish PKMS kits and a wicked milled Krink, but by the end of Febuary we'll be caught up. We can drill the holes you need in your existing receiver, install the underfolding stock, and refinish the whole thing.

You will have to remove the optic rail on the left side. This will leave holes. They will have to be welded up, ground down and polished.

I dont know about that. To convert a SAR (or any rifle that has a AKM pattern rear trunion) is quite time consuming. For starters you have to get the SAR receiver prepped, meaning, remove the optics rail, remove the rear trunion, weld up the two foward rivet holes for the rear trunion and the two foward rivet holes for the optics rail. Next you have to file and sand everything down smooth and its got to be perfect or it will show thru the finish. Now at this point, you basically have a underfolder build on your hands. Get in contact with Duke or Inrange for that type of work. |

A Romy "G" kit is easily done. No siderail, just put an UF trunion in it when it's built.
