Hey guys,  I'm new to the AK side of the forums.  My son is home from duty in Iraq and wishes to buy a Draganov.  Where would we start looking, and about how much can he expect to pay?  Thanks for any help...

Good luck, extremely rare and the price reflects it.

I'm going to ask because it's never clear when someone mentions the "Dragunov."

There are pretty much 2 kinds of these rifles on the market (well 3 actually).

The real dragunovs, and their close kin (Chinese and Tigers) all usually close to $2000 or more, with the real drags (close as possible) and the NMD Chinese versions getting close to $5000.

The other more affordable option is the Romanian PSL, which isn't a dragunov, but is a 7.62x54r semi auto that uses a Dragunov scope.

Those are much more affordable, around $700-$800.

hope this helps.

and SVT, try posting a helpful comment next time.

If you can find one expect to pay in the area of $10,000.00 plus.  Less if its a TIGER.  He might want to look at the NMD-86 in .308. They're less expensive and still look BAD ASS.

I think the KBI SVD's are going for quite a bit more now.

Other prices seem on par.

Thanks guys,  The Romanian PSL/FPK would be what he's looking for.  Who sells those?  Also, do any of our people in the states put together a clone?

Most vendors seem to be out at the moment, maybe more in from Romania this summer?...

they're on gunbroker from week to week, you can try there.

Also, do any of our people in the states put together a clone?

If there were (kits are for sale right now along with the receivers), you'd be paying much more than you would for one built in Romania, which to most is good enough.  The kit plus receiver, plus a good build job would be over $1000, so there's not much point other than if you're willing to pay more for a better built rifle.  Still the ones from romania have had a good reputation.

wow, see SVT, with a little patience you can actually help on this board.

The Romak3 PSL/FPK is not a clone of a Dragunov just for your info.  It is in itself its own rifle but most related to an AK more then an actual Dragunov. $650-$700 is about what you should expect to pay for a Romak3.
