OK, folks, I'm looking for knowledge, facts, and/or opions on side folders.  I own an SLR95 and a Yugo UF. Now, I'm looking to get one that is a side folder, using the triangle type stock. Here are a few questions:

1) Why is it I only see side folders (triange stock) for AK-74s?
2) Are they not strong enough for 7.62x39?
3) Which is the best and most solide side folder? (opion or fact)
4) I see ORF offers a side folder (triangle stock) krink. What is the muzzle velocity of a 7.62x39 out a krink...and what are itsterminal ballistics? i.e. what do I give up in favor of a smaller "package"?

Thanks in advance for any input/advice you folks can give me.

Regards,
Mickey

1) The 74 was the platform they were made on. No country made a 7.62x39 gun with a triangle folder. Most guys willing to spend the money for a triangle folder (lots of money, for the stock and conversion) want something pretty authentic so you dont see many paired with 7.62.
2) They're plenty strong. The hinge and latch are the same as on the AK-100 series of rifles in 7.62, they just have a polymer buttstock instead of metal.
3) Any of the military folders should be solid. Best is a matter of preference and budget.
4) No idea on muzzle velocity, but terminal effects probably wouldnt change much for a 7.62 anyway. It doesnt expand or rely on velocity. The only thing that would change is trajectory.

I prefer the Galil style ACE stocks.

I had the side folder added to one of my Maadi's and couldn't be happier.  I wanted the stock but didn't want to fuss with yet another caliber.

Wow, that's awesome! I have a few more questions...

1. How did you have it "added"?
2. Who did the work?
3. How much did it cost to convert?
4. Is the MADDI a single or double tang receiver?

Arsenal SA-M7SF rock solid when open, and it even has a cool little locking device on the saftey side that locked the stock into place. Very cool. It also had a safety switch on the left side of the rifle that was fastened to the regular safety (you switch it with your thumb). The gun shop I was at had them for $1200. Very cool piece.

I sent the gun and stock assembly to www.coyotegulcharmory.com/AK-RPKpage.htm

2. Who did the work?

Click the link above

3. How much did it cost to convert?

A few hundred?  Not sure as it's been a while and I had some other stuff done at the same time.

4. Is the MADDI a single or double tang receiver?

Single tang.
