I just got an email from Centerfire about a new AK based rifle they will be carrying.  It looks like and RPK with the "pork chop" buttstock, but it seems to havea  light 20" barrel, carry handle, and the bipod is mounted aft of the gas block.

Anyone have a clue what this is, or is it just a frankenstein build of parts?

Dawg

[ETA]  I won't be listing pricing...I am assuming if they haven't posted it publicily there is a reason for that.  Safe to say it will be more than the Yugo underfolders but still reasonable.

A photo would be helpful, but if its just a 20" barrel, its not a real RPK.

Sorry, I was at work and couldn't play with gun pics.  Here you go.

Upon further inspection, i am beggining to suspect it might just be a 20" AK with a clubfoot stock.

With the right angle gas block, it looks like a converted SAIGA.

That Barrel looks Longer than  20"

Compare it to a Real RPK , which has a 24" barrel......

My bad, I think I just assumed 20"  16"/20"...I came over from AR's recently and just madea dumb assumption.

In any case, that is almost certainly a Saiga conversion?  If you were to move the bipod forward (and attach a carry handle) it is the spitting image of the Saiga conversion at MGS...

That is a SAIGA conversion. They had a 20" version available, and I have seen the conversions done before. Not an RPK by any means - just an AK with a long snout.

When lightening the picture it doesn't appear to have a mag dimple. Could they be playing around with the WASR and a new US barrel. CFS mentioned price is good for the first 50. Where'd they get all the Saiga's to convert. Price is no secret. $499. They're not even advertising it as a RPK. Just a new rifle from Century. The AES10.

not a RPK ,,
looks like a sporterized AK ,, legal to import....
sorry but ill pass on those,,, looks like it was built to sell from  a mixture of parts..
AES-10  could very well be converted single stack wasr's with a new longer barrel

probably nothing wrong with the gun , but its not a ak

Looks cobbled together to me. A Nmh91 with the same furniture/bipod looks more like the real thing.
Something about the straight gas block and skinny appearance of the barrel doesn't look right.

Sweet, thanks for hooking up AR15.com members!

Is this only applicable to the one item, or do you offer discounts on other items/firearms for AR15.com members?
