You can probably Fit most AK barrels to the receiver , BUT as I recall ,
The SAR 3 uses a Different Bolt Head than the 5.45x39 and you need to match the bolt to the barrel. (by this I mean the lugs are different size) |

I believe the SAR-3's already use a Bulgarian barrel, one of the reasons it's so hodge-podge.
You should already have a 1/7" twist. |

Cool, thanks templar. I ask because I have a chance to get my hands on a real nice one but I wasn't going to buy it if it was 1/12.

It wouldn't have been 1/12" anyway. The Chinese .223 rifles, the Valmets and the Galils were 1.12" but that was because they were imported in the 80's.
It would be at least 1/9" but I'm 98% sure it's 1/7". |

Not all Galil's were 1-12, some were 1-7, it depends on the model. |

Very true. If you're lucky enough to have a late import with a 1/7", hold it tight to your busom and never let it go.
