Just signed up to the board but have been around on THR, GT and Berttaforum for a while. I have now sold one of my pistols and feel the need to get a reliable, SHTF rifle. I am looking at either an AR of AK.

I have found what seems like a good deal on a M70 Yugo underfolder. It has a new barrel, m70 partrs kit built on a US reciever. Comes with all the little accessories: bayo, oil, sling etc. The asking price is $490 shipped.

I have also found a Vector underfold NIB for $600 and a Arsenal slr-105  with rail $450 NIB.

Out of these 3 which would be the best buy and best quality. I want something that is reliable and dont have to tinker with, unless I want to.here
Ill shut up nowand let you yall talk, TIA!

All three are good choices, you need to decide what caliber you want 7.62x39 for the Yugo and Vector,5.45x39 for the SLR105R. Mags are readily avaliable for both, ammo has been kinda scarce but not impossible to find.

BTW,Welcome To The Site!

I finger fucked one of those century yugo folders at the gun show yesterday, i was pretty impressed with the fit and quality of the piece, the dealer was asking 800 bucks some mark up eh, only double what he paid for it.

How much do you want to spend?  Do you want to receive a final product?  or do you want to tinker finding stock sets etc?

If you want an underfolder, the Vector would be my first choice. If you don't mind changing out the stock later, an SLR 95 would be a great choice for around $450. Good luck!

Obiviously you should get the best AK you can afford but here's my reccomendations:
SA M-7 Carbine, no rail: www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976670603.htm
*SA M-7 Carbine, with rail: www.auctionarms.com/search/displayitem.cfm?itemnum=7164615

Get something with a fixed stock. The underfolders are not as practical as the fixed stock models as the cheek weld is inferior.

Personally, I would get the SLR 105 for $450. 5.45 is widely available for any conceivable SHFT scenerio. Just get a case or 2 of Wolf.

The M-70 does not have a chromelined barrel. That probably does not matter in a dry place like Texas, but could in the event of a hurricane or such other rainy calamity.

Good luck.

I'd like to spend $500 tops with shipping and ffl so that means the rifle will need to be close to 450. I guess an underfolder is a bad idea, but I want the rifle to be as short as possible without a tax stamp.

Does "slr" designate it as a 5.45 round rifle?
