Well, I just finished my Tantal (new condition) parts kit on a Ewbanks reciever and it went together like a champ. The Tantal mags fit perfectly and don't rattle one little bit. It works with both Tantal metal mags and my ORF  polymer "specials". Trunion holes lined up just the Romy kits did.

I will try and post some pics later.

thanks,
Ron

Is the receiver marked for 5.45 or 7.62?

The receiver is marked 7.62x39. Do I have to mark it as a 5.45x39?

thanks,
Ron

Think you might have a problem here. The 5.45 receivers are a bit different than the 7.62 ones. I think something about the placement of the ejector.

Edit: After reading a bit, the differences are ejector location and magwell. Your mags fit ok, so that just leaves the ejector. I would assume its longer since the 5.45 case isnt as wide.

Hopefully its not a problem, i'm sure someone can post more info.

The Ewbanks are designed for both. No, you don't have to mark it 5.45. You're actually better off building a 5.45 with their receiver, because you have to file down the ejector and lower rail for a 7.62 build. My Bulgarian 74 is on a 7.62 marked receiver as well.

Not true. All Eubanks are built for 5,45x39, to make them work for 7.62 you have to grind down the ejector a little bit.

Here is a pic of the Tantal. Thanks for the info on NOT having to re-mark the receiver.

Looks great! And i'm glad to hear the receiver worked good for the 5.45 build I have 3 of those receivers and plan to do the same with a Bulgarian AK-74.

Doc,
Glad to hear the trunnion holes all match up on the Romy kits.  I've got one to build and I had been holding out for a Global receiver but you've got me thinking I may pick up a Ewbanks at the next RK show.  Are you up for advise on the build since you're just down the street?

No problem with helping you build the reciever. Reddobie dropped off two kits with me and he is going to come over so we can build them. Also, you can pick up a Ewbanks over at Black Rifle Armory. Last time I was there he had several of them in stock. I think the price is $55 for them.

thanks,
Ron

The holes on the new predrilled Eubanks recievers are drilled from measurements on the Rommy kits. The Holes on the underfolders are drilled from measurements taken from the PMKMS kits (Polish underfolders).

Where you guys finding receivers online? I need to get one transfered as no shops around here carry em.

Some people have had problems ordering online from Joeken and others haven't. I haven't had a problem ordering from, never had a problem with the quality and now they even do the gunshows here in Vegas to make it easier to order from.

If you call and order from them, make sure you speak to Joe. He has always been helpful and let us know up front if there was going to be a problem with a delay.

thanks,
Ron

The Exbanks receivers are 5.45X39 receivers marked 7.62X39. I built this Bulgarian 74 today on a Ewbanks receiver and it was to easy! I didn't have to polish, file, grind etc on anything. Super easy build.
