I would like to replace the wood.  Last time I tried twisting it off on another rifle and it broke.  Is there an easier way??
Thanks

No, just hold the flat part of the tube where it connects to the rear sight block with a pair of pliers, and with the other hand SLOWLY twist the wood, and do it as gently as possibe....

Us an adjustable wrench on the rear flat portion, won't mar the survace, then grab the wood and twist, I also put one in the freezer and it helped as I think the wood springs OUT.

I find a padded table mounted vice or channel locks and a really strong or heavy set friend to be the easiest way to get them off.

I use a rubber strap wrench, put the tube in a vise on the squared edges on the back of the tube, clame it down and use the strap wrench, they come right off like that, sometime you can just grip it in ur hand and turn. McM

If you are still having a hard time after following all the directions posted here, put the thing in the freezer overnight and then try, it works, I read it here and tried it on a stubborn one I had.
