I'm looking for someone who can build me a custom AK, not just a new gun built from an old kit.  I want it built on a milled receiver with mid-length .308 barrel so it will probably need a custom gas tube and oprod.  Anyone have any ideas on who could do it?  TIA.

I would check with Ken Kubin at Globel Military ( or maybe Global Military)...

Chris Butler at Ak-Usa (ak-103.com) is, in my opinion, probably the best smith out there. I don't know anything about .308 mid-lenghts, but I'm guessing he can help you out. Great guy to work with, he has spent over 2 hours on the phone with me in the last few months, just helping me step by step with my current build. Be advised that he is quite expensive, but if you can fork out the cash there is no way you will be disappointed. Just out of this world quality.....http://ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=64&t=79855 Good Luck

Gotta throw in my endorsement of Derek at AZEX Arms...my FAL and 91 are awesome, and my AK is in progress.  The Completed AK's he had at his shop were truly gorgeous...

Thanks everyone, will do some checking around.  When I said .308 I meant .308 bore (as opposed to .311"), I want to shoot commercial ammo and reloads a bit more accurately than AKs usually do.  I don't mind lack of chrome-lining, but the barrel will need to be turned and chambered from a commercial blank.  Thanks again.
