here's the pics.  The headstamp has a 3 at 12 o'clock and a 97 at 6.

that's it, other than what you see in the pics.

thinking it might just be barnaul, in any case I'm happy I found it.  Am going back to the fun show to clear him out, only bought 2 boxes to start.  Luckily it seems every fun show, 5.45 never sells out, as it's a rare caliber.  7.62 is another story.

+2 at that price. I'd stop at the two boxes and call it a loss.

I saw the same ammo today at a funshow and passed it up at $4.25 a box, just not worth it for me to spend that much. I can wait untill better prices come in.  As far as what it is, your guess is as good as mine. McM

Uly 1997 production, and not worth $6 a box.

thanks for the feedback, glad I didn't buy more.

btw, all that reference said was where it was made it doesn't describe quality, or did I miss something?

how is it comparable to say barnaul?

oh and it was actually $5.25, there's an orange price tag on the bottom

It has a 70gr bullet so it will be a bit slower than the 60gr stuff.  Chronographed some of this out of a 13.5 barrel and got an average of 2650fps.  It also feels softer when shooting.  Meaning recoil is less and point of imact changes.

Have shot thousands of rounds of this stuff and it functions perfectley and I would not hesitate to buy some at a reasonable price.  Definitely $5.25 is too much.  $3.50 would be tops for me.

In the article I read, it said it was 70 gr without the airspace found in Wolf or Barnaul.

2 1/2 inch groups at 100 yds from a Bulgarian AK-74 kit build.
