I have been told that Bulgi and romy '74 gas tubes are a perfect fit for Saigas. I traded a mamber for one and I recieved a gas tube and handguards. The gas tube is ever so slightly too short, and fits, but is loose. The end appears filed down, and there are small shavings inside. Was this done by the seller, or did it come this way? I removed the gas tubes on my 2 Ak's (one Saiga, one Romy) and neither show signs of this.

That's an Ak47 tube, not a 74.

And yes, It looks like it was shaved.

Either way, if it hadn't been shaved it would fit.

That looks like the tube from a milled AK47, like a type 3.  Those won't fit a AKM or AK74-type rifle without being shaved down, and that looks shaved.

The Bulgarian vented gas tube that I used on my Saiga conversion seemd slightly too short too, but it works great.

You might be able to use this to keep it snug.

Edit: Yeah VVV $7.89 for shipping (to me). Maybe some other place has one, or if theres something else you want from k-var..

Hmmm, that may work, Kvar rapes on shipping of small parts though.

When you buy a miscellaneous part off EE, there is a good chance that the seller is getting rid of it because he filed or tweaked on it and now no longer wants it for that very reason.  And they seem to forget to mention it in their add.  Not saying this was the case on the one you got, just saying that has been my experience.

I've got a Bulgarian vented tube on my SAR-1.  Had to shorten it ever so slightly to get it to fit.  I've noticed that I get less carbon and dirt in the receiver with the vented tube.

That tube absolutely looks to be filed. Too perfect, no finish, shavings...

The guy I am dealing with has made it 100% right. No worries, just lost time.
