Depends on if this your first AK. I would get the Polish because it's in a 'real' AK caliber.
I have a 5.56 AK and I love it. Although it would not be my only AK because it's a novelty in AK land.

They say the .223 caliber is like over 20% more accurate than the 5.45, i forget what thread that someone said that at.

Get Both

If this is a defense gun, i'd go with a heavier caliber than .223.

My vote is for the Arsenal, Inc. 5.56mm. There are many good options for that rifle, hardware-wise and ammunition-wise.

If budget is concern also..........look at what other rifles you have already.

Can you afford to buy ammo in yet another caliber? Adds up real quick....trust me, I know.
I already have 7 different kinds of ammo to have to sort through............
And it would save you $$ in other items, like magazines and such.......
My .00005 cents...

Only 7???  Your caliber-fu is weak.

I already have an ORF Ak-74, SAR-3 and a Gordon Tech SLH-100 and 3 AR-15's in various configurations, so I kinda want to keep the various caliber issues to a minimum...........I like the Tantal, but since I have 4 rifles in .223 already, I was leaning toward another one........it's a hard decision, and I would get both if money allowed

Polish Tantal.
Arsenal Inc will still be making .556 rifles when you get some more money, but when the Tantals sell out, they're gone.

I'm curios to see what Templar has to say.

I'd vote for a milled 5.56

With one 5.45x39, 4 5.56 rifles, one 7.62x39 , one 7.62x51(FAL) and an M-1 Garand, I have alot of different calibers to get ammo for........so, some standardization is called for with a tight budget...........too bad I cant win the lottery
