I remember just last year buying a bunch of waffles from K-VAr for 10.99ea. and now I see people in the EE selling them for up to $30 bucks!

New ones havent been avaliable for awhile. Now some are so the price took a nice jump. K-var has em for $17. Glad I got eight back when they were $12 apiece.

What he said. Arsenal Bulgaria has ceased production for a while on the 7.62x39mm waffle mags while they are concentrating on the 5.56mm waffle mags for foreign military contracts. |

If you want them now, you will have to buy them now. You can wait and hope that the price will goback down, but there still is a chance that since they are getting that price for them now, when more become available, the price could maintain at current levels, or even higher due to higher transportation cost and the cost of the petroleum based raw materials that they are produced from. I'd buy them now, if i hadn't bought a dozen of them at $9.99 each... KyARGuy |

Ive only got about 6 of them but I have a dozen or so steel mags so Im good. The thing is, I guess I just never thought they were all that great. I only bought them cause they were cheap (at the time) and right now there are plenty of nice steel mags for around $10ea. you'd think that would that would offest some of the numbskulls paying such a high price for the waffles.

For new mags, they now have to be shipped via Air Frieght, vs a Sealand container. Shipping companies will no longer ship weapon related items via ship from Bulgaria. This will raise the price a bit.

Yup, you can thank Century Arms. Shipped a about 7K of Romanian AK's in a container that wasn't listed as carrying arms on the manifest or something...the Italians opened up and just about shit. Since then, the two container shipping companies operating the Med. will not ship anything gun related out of the Black Sea area. |

Its not just the Bulgy mags. A year ago I bought some Polish ploy mags for $8 each and now they are going for $20-$25.

Polymer mags = new hotness.
Steel ribbed mags = old and busted. Steel mags are all over the place, and polymer mags seem relatively new - hence, big buying sprees when they arrived. I know I prefer them to the old, not-as-cool steel mags... |

my $.02
steel mags: heavier, prone to rust, prone to denting, prone to corrosion, need to be oiled/maintained in storage, need to be oiled/lubricated on inside, older style - many in the us, most are older in age than polymer mages, not as durable, most wobble somewhat in mag-well, make more noise, inconsistant finishes/product, harder to clean, sharper edges... polymer mags: lighter, not prone to rust, not prone to denting, not as prone to corrosion, don't need to be maintained/ oilked in storage, don't need to be oiled on inside (self-lubricating), newer style, - not as many in the us, most are newer than steel mags, very durable (Bulgy waffles), pleasing to the eye, minimal/no wobble in mag-well, less noise, consistant finish/product, easier to clean, not so sharp edges... |

I bought a dozen new Bulgarian 7.62 X 39 waffle mags from Chief Thunder for something like $7-8 dollars a piece. Man, those were the days.

I have no use for any 7.62x39 magazines but until they reach the prices of the Russian bakelite magazines. I don't think anyone has to worry about the price.
