What does the "P" stand for on the rear sights?

It is... I'm not sure what the P actually stands for it can be different on AK's  just depends what country it comes from for example I have a Bulgy with a crylic letter on it...My Romy's have a P..

I notice on my Romy that the P mark was pretty much near the same height as the 300 meter mark.

Yes, battlesight range: everything up to and including 300 m.

On East Germans, it's an "N".

Poles: "S"

Yugos: "0"

etc.

It stands for "Primary" sight setting, their equivalent to a "battlesight zero." It is 300m on AKs.
