To get around silly US laws on gun imports, they just imported several engineers from the Bulgarian Arsenal. And many parts other than the rec are still Bulgarian, incl the bbl. |
Well, using that logic, only a Russian rifle would do. Since the previously mentioned rifle is just a 'Made in China' copy as well. |
Troo-dat!!! (and BTW, only a Russian AK *will* do!) -C |

Hardly! The real AK's built in real AK factories are required to pass strict military testing and design specs. Hundreds of thousands (even millions) are sold to governments all over the world. They are held to military standards never even approached by Bubba's AK factory in Alabama. AK's built in Bubba's factory are not held to any standards other how long he thinks he can get away with shoddy workmanship. |
Dude, Arsenal Inc is hardly Bubbas AK factory.
Basically, since they couldn't import the rifles, they imported the tooling and technicians who built them for the Bulgarian military. These are some of the best AK's in the world... you're missing out. |
Man, I hate it when you do that............just makes me want to go get more....anybody wanna buy a kidney????
you sire, are one igorant sonuvabich. |
Ok.........before we get into a name calling hissy................
Arsenal Inc., in Las Vegas, Nevada, is the US branch of Arsenal Bulgaria, which has contracts all over the world, including the rearming of Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as Columbia, Indonesia, India, and many other lovely vacation hideaways........ www.arsenal-bg.com/main.htm www.arsenal-bg.com/contact_us.htm arsenalinc.com |
I dont think you really understand the game. "factory built" imported AK's are not military AK's, they are copies of military AK's. Look at the imported Romanian AK's, do you think they are held to strict standards...lol... But, to answear the question, unless you buy a preban Polytech (Chinese) or a Arsenal INC SLR rifle, your SOL on a "factory built" imported AK. Here is an example of a "bubba built" milled AK. |
Damn Jnewt, you still have that rifle? That is pretty damn nice
And another thing!...............
Arsenal Bulgaria's AR-M1, current production Bulgarian military milled receiver AK in 7.62x39mm......... www.arsenal-bg.com/defense_police/7,62ar-m1-m1f.htm And the Arsenal Inc. SA-M7A1, a US built (by Bulgarians) semi auto civvie version of the Bulgarian AR-M1............... www.arsenalinc.com/sam7a1.htm I hope we've convinced you that there are military grade milled receiver AK's here in the US. |
Wouldn't the old Arsenals like the SA-93 that were imported in 1993 with a thumbhole stock be one made entirely in Bulgaria.
Yep, so are the SLR-95's. But to unban them you'll need the appropriate US parts too. The SA-93 and the SLR-95's were great rifles. The halt on importation of them is basically what gave rise to Arsenal Inc. coming in. |
Jnewt what's with the selector on the other side? I thought only Tantals had those..Hmm... |

Thanks Tim! That left side Bulgarian slector is the cats ass I tell ya, to cool. TacticalStrat, dont be scared off because the Arsenal INC milled rifles are US made. They are built from 90% Bulgarian parts, by professionals and are some of the nicest Kalshnikovs in the world, if not the nicest. You wont be disapointed with one. |
Dont knock it till you try it. Arsenal rifles are the best affordable quality NEW rifle out there. Sure, you could get a Polytech legend but I would rather throw it in the gun safe then shoot it.
+1, i'd sell my organs in milisecond for an SA M7 |
How much is a 23 year old lung going for? Perhaps a kidney.I dont smoke or drink....that much. |
Polytech Legend $$$ ? Arsenal Inc. $$$ ? I have got a 93 import MAK 90 with a milled receiver. Got it a a local pawn shop for $225 out the door. Way less money than a Polytech Legend or an Arsenal Inc. rifle. If your looking for a "fully made and assembled in a real AK factory" rifle, For the money, I don't think you can find any better rifle than a milled MAC 90.
Some of the Arsenal offering are the same price, or sometimes even more expensive then a Polytec Legend. |
They look pretty good. I read the company history of Arsenal and it appears they are the real deal. Do the Arsenal milled guns have forged or cast fire control parts? Are the bores chromed? Are the bolt carriers forged or cast? Do they have a spring loaded or free-floating firing pin? I saw that Arsenal has a Custom Shop. I am thinking about having them make a semi-auto copy of this Polish AK (Vet bring-back)that I sold (like an idiot) 20 years ago, and have regretted it ever since. It was beautiful and had a incredible high luster blued finish like you'd see on a old Winchester. |

*Arsenal Inc is the licensed U.S. branch of the Arsenal Co of Bulgaria. This means that they are the only U.S. AK manufacturing firm to actually be licensed by true former Com Bloc AK factory. They are fully supported by the mother factory in Bulgaria, having access to all technical information (no reverse engineering). *They employ Bulgarian Factory trained technicians. *The bores, chambers, gas chambers, and piston are chromed. *The barrels are cold hammer forged on Steyr made or Steyr licensed machinery. *Forged carriers. *All of their SA M-5's were sent out with a spring loaded firing pin system, but their milled 7.62x39 caliber guns have been shipped with both spring loaded and free floating. Individual inspection of any SA series 7.62x39 caliber gun is the only way to be sure of which system it has. Their stated goal in their milled guns is to phase out the free floating firing pin in favor of their spring loaded system. *Their SA series milled guns are phoshated and then top coated with a paint like black finish (similar to what they do with modern made Polish, Russian, and Bulgarian AK's). *The fire control groups in SA series guns are CNC milled from steel forgings. *The U.S. made SA series receiver is CNC milled from steel forgings using Bulgarian Specs in material, machining, and heat treating. *Their U.S. made polymer stock sets are molded from the same German polymer that the Arsenal in Bulgaria uses to mold theirs. The lower handguard has the proper phosphated steel heat shield installed. Hope this answers your questions |

Yes it does. Thanks!!! |
How much did you sell it for? |
$6000 23 years ago. Today it would bring $30-$40K. |
Ouch. Did you bring it back? Was it a VN bringback? |
