Thx guys!

He's never answered any of my e-mails. Ever.

I'm thinking of getting my new WASR-10 refinished. I've owned it less than three days and already there's bare metal all over the place, especially the magazine well, mag release, front sight, and upper receiver.

I spent the entire gun show looking for a Saiga with the intent of having it one day converted into an AK-104. The only Saiga I found was a .308 going for $800.

VEPR's were only $100 out of my price range though.

Bulgy slr-101, GB/FSB cut, welded and blended into one.  Barrel shortened and amd brake perm. attached by ORF.  Loud, reliable accurate and evil.

What kind of rear sight is that in the first pic.
What kind of rail is that in the third pic.
Where did you get them?
Also what is the length of your barrell in the thied pic...what kind of break?

Anyone can chime in...I wouldn't mind some of those parts myself

Ok, can someone direct me to where I can have one of these AK-105's built with the legal barrel length that I see here?  thanks.

Chris Butler at AK-USA will hook you up...

Swindle, I'll email Chris and see if he has what you need - I need to email him anyhow...  Also, if you're looking for Saigas, try Gunbroker.  I got one off of their a month ago for less than $275 and it is now in the chopping process...

There's seems to be some confusion caused by this thread, if all the IM's I'm receiving are an indication.

To clarify: The guns I posted pics of are NOT mine. Those are from the AK-USA website, by Chris Butler. I thought I was fairly clear in this, but apparently I wasn't.

The only AK I own is a WASR-10 I haven't gotten to shoot yet. I WISH I could get my hands on an AK-104.

Any idea how long the barrel is with the booster on there?  How close is it to 16"?

Hey, Shooter, how's it been going? I haven't spoken to you in a while, although Viper and I have been swapping a lot of e-mails lately.

It sounds like you've got some great goals in mind. I'm starting to scrounge up parts for my future AK-74M build. I've already bought the Bulgarian AK-74 side-folder kit, the Armory 5.45 receiver, a US-made pistol grip and gas piston, an optic mount, a complete rivet set, and I'm waiting on an AK-100 series poly folder that I bought to arrive stateside (which may be months). All I need to do yet is buy an RSA fire control group and hire a good builder once the stock arrives.

The length with the krink booster is too short.  The barrel is right around 12" at the front of the front sight, the booster dosent quite get it there.  Believe me I've looked into it.

I knew there was a reason Chris built those longer original Krink style boosters.  I think the newer Bulgy booster would be nice on a 7.62 gun.  Any idea on the length of the booster?  That plus 12" I bet would be in the 14-15" range...

Assuming build is done by chopping an AK-74 barrel, it would need to be left long enough to bring the Krink booster (or beercan flash hider) out to 16", then threaded to the smaller commie thread size (14mm?). A 14mm to 24mm thread adapter would then have to be permanently attached to the barrel, and the booster permanently attached to the adapter, for a total legal length of 16"+.

It would look something like the setup on this gun:

IMHO, the extended 102/4/5 comp from AK-USA is a much cleaner, classier solution. And no more expensive, considering the parts/work involved in the other approach.

There's also this option from Investment Grade Firearms:

Also, I have it on good authority that Redjacket Firearms will be coming out with an AK-102/4/5 barrel extension of their own in the next few weeks. Hopefully it will be something more functional and cosmetically appealing than just a short "fake silencer".
