I have gas blocks that are vented and not vented.

I have gas tubes that are vented and not vented.

Obviously, when building an AK, one of them has to be vented.  But what happens when I use both vented.  And which is better to vent - the gas tube or the gas block?

It doesn't really matter.

Typically, one is vented, and the other isn't. I think -47s have the vented tube and AKMs have the vented block.

I have a Hungarian rifle with both parts vented, and it was original that way.

EDIT- On my RPK front end, neither part is vented. Go figure.
