I am sure polymer is just as easy if not easier to manufacture and they function 100%. Never a need for them I guess.

The Soviets did make a limited number. I think that there is a picture of one in the mag pic. thread. Very rare and very,very pricey.

I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere (perhaps on this forum) that they made them but stopped because they didn't hold up very well or something like that.

Yup. I believe the Egyptians made some too, but not very many.
Just didn't hold up to the way the rifle could be treated, especially among conscript troops. Besides, aluminum is a more expensive material to get in some places than steel. |

Aluminum mags are flimsy, pathetic little things.
It's almost like putting an AR stock on your AK.

I had one but was unable to bring it back unfortunatly from a deployment a few years back along with two different brown waffles..............argghh still somewhere in A-stan.
