I have never used one on any of my AKs, but I do have one for my ARs that works like a charm.  Hopefully somebody who has one will chime in on this.

Yes but if the kit ran well, it would be cool on 1 of my SBR Krinks.

I just tried calling Ciener to ask that question: got the answering machine.  I'll have to keep on this.  I love my AKT-98, and would love it even more if I could load more then 9 rounds in a mag at a time (I know the mags are 10, but I can't get reliablity if I load to capacity).

I made contact with Ciener, and asked him if the mags would work with the AKT-98.  He said he didn't know.  He went on to say that if a standard AK mag would fit, then yes it should work.

The mags that come with the rifle have the feed lips machined off, so I tried one of my SAR-2 mags.  No go on fitting (Lips exteneded too far up, could not lock the magazine in).

Does anyone have the Ciener conversion kit?  If so, could you measure one of the mags for me so I could see if it would work with the AKT-98?

Thanks much for any help!

Also keep in mind the the mag body that the plastic slips into on the AKT is the single stack variety...
A double stack AK mag won't fit at all.

Very true.  I am guessing the Ciener mag would be a single stack, like the AR-15's are. The magwell in the AKT is wide enough to accept an SAR-2 double stack mag, so if I went w/ the .223 version, it should fit.  The only thing I am not sure about is how high the mag will fit in the receiver, if I will be able to rock the mag into place.

Thanks!

IIRC ceiner makes 2 different .223 kits.  one for poytech and the other for norinco. they have different magazine dimensions.  one is near identical to the 7.62 mag opening, and the other is near identical to the 5.45 mag opening.  i can't remember which.  just keep that in mind if you order one.  i am interested in how it turns out also.

Well I picked up a kit for a 7.62 AK this weekend, the kit has a 9.5" barrel liner. I tried it last night in a MAK90 and it worked great. We had 1 jam out of the 60 or so rounds put threw it.The thing was dry so I think with some lite oil and some break in it will be better. The kit came with a 10 round mag so I need to pick up some 30 rounders. I also want to buy a kit for my .223 Krink SBR, with the AAC Krinkov can it should be very quite.

The Norinco has the narrow "5.45" style mag opening & the PolyTech has the wider 7.62 style IIRC.

I'm not 100% certain on it though.
I've got a demilled Type 84 Norinco barrel/trunnion/receiver stub in the parts box & a 7.62 mag will not clear what's left of the mag well but a 5.45 mag fits OK.
One of these days I'll get around into building a 5.56 AK with this barrel.
