So today I poked around the local Pawn shop and see a Sar 1 on the wall . It has a fugly reddish stock and hand gurads with a black pistol grip and it lookes like the bayonet lug is on it . The FSB doesn't look canted . Is this a good price or should I try to haggle lower ? Or what ?

Keep in mind he has a CIA import L1A1 for $1400 right next to it .

Standard Vector new goes fo $449-499 buy one and wait a few weeks for it.  SAR1s are superior to the WASR in every way but not $475 used superior.

Yup, their built on OOW receivers.  I've heard their gonna start using global 1mm shells in the near future.  And 475 sounds a little high to me.  I'd haggle

Couldn't tell you I have an SAR1 I bought new for $330.  The main attraction to vectors right now is the underfolder.  I just cant bring myself to buy another AK in the same calibre.  If I buy anything else 7.62x39 it will be an SKS.  Dont get me wrong I love my AK, just can't find logic in a 2nd.  SAR's and Wasr's are or were made in the same factory however that factory is filling the Iraq contract.  So they take a CA. moel and make it hi-cap.  The systems and pattern of the AK are nearly full proof if they are to spec.  I dont see you having issues with a WASR but it is not as nice of wood and the QA and QC is not the asme as it was with the SAR series.

Just realize that one day that Vector will be out of AKs and you will reflect back and wish you had bought the SAR1...  I remember when these were like $275 NIB and depending on the legal climate the prices can jump and jump fast...

If you don't own an AK...  The Vector is a great looking gun and I know I would love to have one...  Just the same, I do own a SAR1 and a SAR3 and they may not look as fancy as the Vector but they are sold guns that work 100%...

But yes, that price is too high...  I wouldn't pay that much!

EDIT Now... this is a good price:

Hey Kodiak, if you really want a SAR1, I'd jump on this one. The guy selling it just reduced the price to $375 shipped.
