alliance store, in the carnation mall. a flat chested, but otherwise cute, bleach blonde waited on me and she was not very knowledgable about firearms, but friendly, patient and very professional with the paperwork. you just gotta love buying guns in the mall!
btw, they come with the little blue hardbound book, "tehnicki karton, za pistolie, puske i automate".
it looks to be some sort of weird record of maintanance???
my log starts on 23. x. 1979...whenever the hell that was. the rifle s/n is in the 6282xx range, having been rebuilt from an all matching rifle in the 4xxxxxx range (most model 59's got updated to the 59/66a1 in the '60's and '70's the way i understand things.
there are entries for 1980, '82, 90 and 1995 on one page and another set of four entries with matching dates a couple of pages back.
there is a 'test target' of sorts in the back of the book. it appears that 4 shots were recorded in ink on this target (dated 22-10-1979). the spread is 100mm (3.94") vertically by 25mm (.98") horizontally. the range specified is 100 meters (109 yards).
i'll go over the the siminov forum and see if the experts know what's the deal with the log book.
oh yeah, perfect condition internally, as well as out. the bore looks good, absolutley no wear on the hammer or sear. the blueing on wear surfaces hasn't been touched with the exception of the front sling swivel. this one definitely had a sling on it at one time after rebuild.
judginging by the yugo m48 and m48a i cleaned...and now this m59/66a1, i would venture to say that the yugoslavians bought cosmoline by the tanker ship load! is yugoslavia sitting on the world's natural reserves of cosmoline??? damn! kersine, brushes, a bunch of rags and almost 25 patches just to get it to the stage that will only stink, ooze and smolder when i first shoot it!
