It's a fact, M-4s (I am not sure about M-16s' but it would not surprise me) don't like it when you fire them when their barrels are full of water-the military has a barrel draining procedure. The guys I normally work for had 3 or 4 M-4's blow up because of water in the barrel in one week, the guys across the street had I want to say 7 do the same. It ain't like an AK for sure............

It is because a .22 caliber bore will hold water thru capillarly action. It's like putting your finger over one end of a soda straw full of water (which is nearly .22) and picking it up. The water stays in. A .30 caliber weapon won't do this, it is too big to hold suction.
Any idiot firing a high pressure rifle cartridge under water needs his ass kicked. |

Also that applies to barrels that are partially full of water on the M-4 series. Mind you not a few drops do it.
