I use militech grease or those little grease pots that sell for like .12 ea.

I think your just fine use either. I put a thin smear of grease on my reciver rails and bolt carrier.Also a smear on the bolt lugs and bolt stem. But in a pinch I use oil. Tetra grease is good and USGI M14 / Garand grease is good. Lubriplate. But really anything will work. Cheers WarDawg

Lube? That implies that you will clean it. Everyone knows you don't clean AK's. All you need to do is shoot the hell out of it , drop it in the mud a few times , and you're good to go.
  I just use a CLP on mine. The brand name is G96 Gun Treatment. But there are others.Seems to work fine. |

one time at the range I forgot to bring my oil bottle, so I used some 10w30 off of the dipstick in my car. worked fine for me

I use GI Artillery Grease on mine. It hangs around a little longer than regular gun oil . Only thing I don't like about it is that is smells like ass.

I use a very small amount of Wilson Combat Ultima-Lube on the rails and the bolt locking lugs.

It's an AK, Anything will work or use nothing at all!
I am sure that somewhere in Sub Sarahan Africa there's a guy firing a 40Year old AK on full auto that has never been cleaned or Lubed properly! |

Grease? I don't think I ever even put oil on rails and bolt carrier... I thought grease was a garand and M14 thing... But it sounds like a good idea to me.

for my AK? Water displacement formula 40. spray a generous amount into the action before firing. for my other rifles i use remoil with teflon. grease just means more time cleaning.

I used a slight amount of electric plasma from my 40 watt range rifle. Tingled a bit, but worked fine.

I have been using USGI surplus CLP(cleaner,lubricant,preservative) for 20 years and it still is current issue. The commerical equilivent is
www.break-free.com/ After using it to clean my firearms, I give the inside a coating of it to lubricate the moving parts,and also give the outside a coat of it to preserve/protect it from corrosion(rust). CLP has mircoscopic teflon particles in it that get into the pores of the metal and is a very good lubricant. A added benifit of the teflon in the pores of the metal is fouling doesn't stick as hard to the metal. You know how hard the carbon is to get off the gas piston. It requires lots of scrubbing with a brass or steel brissel brush to remove. Lubed with CLP before firing all that is required to remove the carbon is spaying it with CLP,letting it soak for 10 minuites. Then using a tooth brush with plastic brissels and it doesn't take that much scrubbing to remove the carbon. Try it one time and you won't use anything else. |

Yellow tops, clear bases, size of the end of your finger, brown grease. milsurp Any lube works it seems, but since the rails are far from enclosed, grease stays put better. |

Is there anykind of grease that can be bought at autoparts stores or anything that works good for lubricating the insides? Like maybe mobile 1 synthetic grease or lithium grease??

Sure. Get a tub of wheel bearing grease or white "lubra-plate" grease. Either will work fine. |

I will do that., Since I work at advance I get it cheap. I have some normal GM wheel bearing grease already. You think that would work?

Geez...about any grease will work. As some of the guys stated above, they hardly lube the things. I use CLP and add a drop or two every six months whether it needs it or not. Grease will provide better, longer lasting lubrication, but it'll make for more work to clean up. Plus it'll attract dust/dirt more if you live in a dusty enviroment.
Heck, I'd bet bacon grease would work. The added benift there might be that it'll attract the coyotes too. |

+1 on the little cups of USGI grease made for the Garand/M14 butt stock cleaning kit. I have, like, 300 of them. Figure that they should last me about 100 years. |

I use Mobile 1 5w50 on the rails. Tetra gun grease in the bolt cam area.
