Bought one for $275. Its the most fun gun I own period. The sound, look, and suprising accuracy are hard to beat.

I got to shoot one at a range back in Georgia.  I must say it is the most retarded, impractical, incredibly fun piece of hardware I've ever had the opportunity to play with.  I'm really looking at building one.  they are tons of fun.

mental image: take pistol, add chicom 100rd drum.  now thats fun!

I've been thinking about getting one for some time now, seems like it would make a great pack gun.

Someone needs to post tutorial on how to make these guns.  Looks like a lot of fun.  Is there an affordable way to build one of these or one like it?

Do they have a rear stock of any kind? Or is the back of the reciever solid?

Building an AK pistol is one of the cheapest firearms you can make.

1. Buy an AMD 65 kit
2. Buy an OOW 7.62 reciever
3. Assemble. Just weld a plate over the trunion in the back.

You can assemble one for 150 bucks if you shop around. I love my pistol. I put a sling on it, and wood furniture. Pressing against the sling makes the pistol quite accurate.

OK.  I am with you until you say WELD.  I have never welded and I know I would weld like a retard.  Hmm...  Any way around the welding part.  What about the legality of an AK pistola?

Need a pistol registered reciever, and no stock. That is it. The 922r rules dont apply, so you can use all foreign parts. Since sept 13th, no weight limit is required. You can buy a pistol trunion from K-var, but I think they are sold out now. You just need to make it to where you cannot attach a stock. Ditch the vertical foregrip, with one its an AOW.

I have seen some debate about the "registered" pistol part of the scenario.  I have heard that it has to be registered pistol on the yellow form.  I have also heard it argued that you don't need it to be listed as a pistol on the yellow form.

What kind of sling do you have?

I am also interested in building a AMD65 pistol. I already have my kit. I need a registered pistol receiver where is the best place to find one.

Can these pistols be built from an AMD 65 using the imported barrel in light of 18 USC 925(d)(3).  That's confusing.  Can anybody clear that up?

The import rules have nothing to do with pistols....so use all of the AMD parts.

1. There is no "registration" of title I firearms.  Form 4473 is strictly a transfer document.  It does not establish any status of a firearm.

2.  Line 27 of the 4473 merely asks for a description of what is being transferred.  If the firearm is a stripped receiver, the FFL should say stripped receiver.

I suspect there will be some dealers who get popped on their audits for marking "pistol" when they actually sold/xfered a stripped receiver.
